After The Lake Event

This event was a project I worked on for my Public Relations Event Planning class during my sophomore year. A big part of our grade was based on hosting an event and getting a certain number of people to attend to pass the class. Being part of this project made me realize I wanted to pursue a career in marketing, especially focusing on social media. It gave me a chance to get my feet wet in marketing, and since then, I’ve learned and grown so much.
My position
Our class was split into three groups, and I was placed in the Promotions committee. I worked with about eight other people to create an Instagram account, decide on our brand voice, and plan how we’d advertise the event. We wrote press releases, created newsletters for the school, and collaborated with other organizations to build excitement around the event.
About the event
We focused on creating an event aimed at graduating students. We hosted a panel with three speakers, and one of our classmates asked them questions we had gathered from the student body about post-grad life and how to be successful. The event had over 100 students in attendance.
